How to Get Unstuck From Anything (Part 3)

Ok so on the previous post, we moved deeper into the kaleidoscopic theory of change.

And I left you with the notion that the way to lasting change is to create an environment that will keep your personal kaleidoscope in a holding pattern of joy, bliss, creativity and other the good stuff.

Ok, let’s go even deeper.

A good place to start is with understanding how we get into holding patterns in the first place.  This will give us the “one-up” on gaining access to the mechanisms that influence the whole shebang.

So if we go back to the very beginning, one could imagine we’re all born with a particular constitution and temperament that comes along with a pre-wired propensity toward some kind of unique personal expression of creativity. In other words, we are all coded to be the exceptional at something, but in a very personal unique kind of way.

But for most of us, life gets in the way and crowds this out.

How?  Well, my money is on the idea that one pattern begins to dominate then forms deep grooves in the very fabric of being until it becomes the default pattern.  We probably have some minor league patterns as well, which kick in when less significant events call for less drastic measures.

So how does one pattern come to dominate?  Simple: we practice it over and over again, ad infinitum, ad nauseam, non-stop.  Then it’s like a song that gets stuck in your head that you just can’t shake.

Here’s what it looks like on the macro level. Let’s take depression: if you think depressing thoughts; if you feel heavy, hopeless and unmotivated; if your sleep, eating and exercise habits are all screwed up; if you have no interest in anything… you might define yourself as depressed.

The more you think, feel, say and do depression, the more firmly embedded the pattern becomes until everything else is squeezed out.  In fact, we all know people who are depressed (or anxious, angry, mean-spirited) much of the time and who seem to interpret everything in a way that perpetuates their dominate mood. We may be one of them.

The good news is, if my theory holds water, we can affect our underlying pattern by practicing a new tune, one with a different frequency, tone and associated mood.

Who knows, there may be a pulse and frequency to the universe itself.  As mystical adepts have said for ages, coming into tune with the natural rhythms of the cosmos is pure joy.

So where do you start with this vast and meaningful project?

Right where you are.

There’s really no other place.  And this very realization that you are right where you are, here and now, is pretty significant… as you will see.

So what’s the most effective method for getting unstuck from anything?  Change your tune.  However, this is not about learning new lyrics; it’s about changing the underlying frequency, vibration and pattern of the notes themselves.

Welcome!  I invite you to read, comment, share opinions, and connect.
